Scholarships

The Foundation Scholarships are merit-based and awarded to qualified students with a consideration of financial need. All recipients shall be in pursuit of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and as described by the respective scholarship criteria. Most scholarships are for one year, non-renewable unless otherwise indicated in the award description.

To apply for a Foundation Scholarship, you must complete the online application and provide the following supporting documents as instructed in the application:

  • Resume
  • FAFSA Confirmation Page (received from filing FAFSA)
  • Most recent transcript (unofficial or official)
  • Three letters of recommendation from a current school professor, faculty member, or community leader.
  • Essay: In a minimum of 500 words, please address the following question: What inspired you to pursue a degree in your current field of study and how do you plan to use your studies to achieve your future career goals? (Please upload your essay in PDF format.)
  • A high-resolution headshot.

 

Additional Criteria: Members and the immediate family of members of the Board of Directors of the Kappa Alpha Psi Foundation, Inc. are not eligible for consideration of any scholarship distributed by the Foundation.

The Kappa Alpha Psi Foundation, Inc. provides this scholarship through each Province of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. to honor the memory of the longtime Executive Secretary and the 22nd Grand Polemarch of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.

Each Province shall be solely responsible for determining which undergraduate(s) in their respective Provinces shall receive the awards, as well as the number and amount of the awards. Award recipients shall be announced at the Province Councils each year. 

The Kappa Alpha Psi Foundation, Inc. is proud to offer financial assistance to graduating high school seniors and continuing undergraduate students, attending a four-year accredited college or university and majoring in a STEM-related field of study. This scholarship was established by Foundation Board Member Emeritus Rodney C. Adkins.

This is a four-year award that will be disbursed in $2,500 increments at the beginning of the fall semester each year. 

The recipient must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 in STEM subjects to remain qualified for this award. If the GPA drops below 2.5, the recipient has one semester to re-establish eligibility or forfeit all remaining disbursements.

  • Awarding of this scholarship is based on merit and financial need.
  • Applicant shall be an African American male.
  • Applicant shall be an honor student with academic achievements in high school.
  • Applicant shall enter into Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) degree program.

 

The Award recipient shall be announced in the summer of each year or at the Grand Chapter Meeting during a Conclave year.

The Kappa Alpha Psi Foundation, Inc. is proud to offer financial assistance to qualifying undergraduate students of African-American descent who are attending a four-year accredited college or university and majoring in a Business or Pre-Law field of study. This scholarship was established by Foundation Director Sean B. Battle.

The recipient must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 in Business or Pre-Law subjects to remain qualified for this award. If the GPA drops below 2.5, the recipient has one semester to re-establish eligibility or forfeit all remaining disbursements.

  • Awarding of this scholarship is based on merit and financial need.
  • Applicant shall be an African American male.
  • Applicant shall be an honor student with academic achievements in high school.
  • Applicant must be a full-time college undergraduate student or a high school senior accepted to a college or university.
  • Applicant shall enter into a Business or Pre-Law degree program.

The Kappa Alpha Psi Foundation, Inc. is proud to offer financial assistance to qualifying undergraduate students of African-American descent or other minority descent in the Western Province of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., who are attending a four-year accredited college or university and majoring in a Business or Accounting field of study. This scholarship was established by Foundation Vice President A. Ronald and Silhouette Jacqueline Berryman.

The recipient must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 in Business or Accounting subjects to remain qualified for this award. If the GPA drops below 2.5, the recipient has one semester to re-establish eligibility or forfeit all remaining disbursements.

  • Awarding of this scholarship is based on merit and financial need.
  • Applicant shall be an African American male.
  • Applicant shall be an honor student with academic achievements in high school.

The Kappa Alpha Psi Foundation, Inc. is proud to offer financial assistance to continuing undergraduate students, attending a four-year accredited college or university and majoring in Business & Finance related fields of study. Four scholarships shall be awarded. These scholarships are available to all eligible students and the recipient will receive a one-year scholarship of $2,500. This scholarship was established by Foundation President Michael J. Dubose.

  • Applicant must be an active member of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
  • Applicant shall be studying in a Business related degree program.

 

The Award recipient shall be announced in the summer of each year or at the Grand Chapter Meeting of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. during its Conclave year. The full award will be disbursed at the beginning of the fall semester each year.

The Kappa Alpha Psi Foundation, Inc. is proud to offer financial assistance to undergraduate students in the Western Province of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated, attending a four-year accredited college or university and with an interest in studying in the Legal or Medical fields of study. This scholarship was established by the 27th Grand Polemarch of Kappa Alpha Psi Robert L. Harris and his Silhouette, Dr. Glenda Newell-Harris.

The recipient must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 in Business or Pre-Law subjects to remain qualified for this award. If the GPA drops below 2.5, the recipient has one semester to re-establish eligibility or forfeit all remaining disbursements.

  • Applicant shall be an African American male.
  • Applicant shall be an honor student with academic achievements in high school.
  • Applicant must be a full-time college undergraduate student or a high school senior accepted to a college or university. The Kappa Alpha Psi Foundation, Inc. is proud to offer financial assistance to undergraduate students in the Southeastern Province of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated, attending a four-year accredited college or university and with an interest in majoring in the Business, Accounting, or Supply Chain Operations fields of study. This scholarship was established by the Foundation Treasurer, Martin Luther Hubbard.

The recipient must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 in Business or Pre-Law subjects to remain qualified for this award. If the GPA drops below 2.5, the recipient has one semester to re-establish eligibility or forfeit all remaining disbursements.

  • Applicant shall be an African American male.
  • Applicant shall be an honor student with academic achievements in high school.

The Kappa Alpha Psi Foundation, Inc. is proud to offer financial assistance to undergraduate students or graduate students with a financial need, attending a four-year accredited college or university. This scholarship was established to honor the memory of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. member Randy L. Partee, Sr.

The late Randy Partee was an eminent leader of Hill’s Pet Nutrition Corporation. The scholarship will be awarded to the applicant who best exemplifies the leadership of Mr. Randy Partee.

  • Applicant must be pursuing a degree in Business, Information Technology, Engineering
  • Applicant must be an active member of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
  • Applicant must have completed an internship

 

The Award recipient shall be announced in the summer of each year or at the Grand Chapter Meeting during a Conclave year.

The Kappa Alpha Psi Foundation is proud to offer financial assistance to graduating high school seniors and continuing undergraduate students with a financial need attending a four-year accredited college or University. Ten or more scholarships shall be awarded. These scholarships are available to all eligible students with declared or undeclared majors. Selected scholarship recipients will receive a one-year scholarship of $2,000.

  • Awarding of this scholarship is based on merit and financial need.
  • Applicants shall show achievement in academics, civic leadership, or a record of community service.

 

The Award recipient shall be announced during the annual Celebration of Achievement or at the Grand Chapter Meeting of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. during its Conclave year. The full award shall be disbursed at the beginning of the Fall semester.

Academic Classification: Graduating High School Senior, College Undergraduate

Majors: Open to all fields of study

Up to five scholarships of $1,500 each will be awarded to students planning to pursue full-time study at a two-year college or vocational-technical school in the 2023-2024 academic year. To apply, students must be high school seniors, graduates or undergraduates with a minimum 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent), and plan to pursue a degree/certificate in trade fields such as, but not limited to, construction, motor/power sector, mechanics or technology.

The Kappa Alpha Psi Foundation is proud to offer financial assistance to graduating high school seniors and continuing undergraduate students with a financial need, attending a four-year accredited college or university and majoring in a STEM-related field. Five scholarships shall be awarded. These scholarships are available to all eligible students with declared or undeclared majors. Selected scholarship recipients will receive a one-year scholarship of $2,500.
